Arohanui Curriculum

Contextual Learning

Contextual learning is the basis for our teaching at Arohanui Special School.  This means we attempt to give a context or meaning for everything we try to impart to our students across subject areas.

Key Competencies

These are taken from the New Zealand Curriculum and they are the basis for our students IEP ( Individual Education Plans) goals.  They are;

  • Thinking
  • Using language, symbols and texts
  • Managing Self
  • Relating to others
  • Participating and contributing
